Heart of my Heart

April 30, 2012

I made this little quilt a while ago, to use as a class sample for a class that never made it off the ground. So it’s been waiting it’s turn for quilting and I finally got around to it last week. More practice on my new Tin Lizzie quilting machine.

Vegetable Medleys

April 18, 2012

I belong to a small art group called Northern Michigan Art Guild (NMAG for short). At a recent meeting, we set up some vegetable still life scenes. While the rest of the group painted and photographed, I made some drawings and translated them into small wall hangings. They will be offered for sale at the Earth Day event being hosted by the Cadillac Transition team on Sunday, April 22 , at the Rotary Pavilion in Cadillac, from 2-5 pm. If you’re in the area, please stop in and see us.

Harmony

March 18, 2011

For my Hoffman Challenge entry for 2011 I used Ricky Tims’ Rhapsody technique.  I really intended for it to be much simpler than it turned out.  It’s one of those things that once it was started, just kept evolving.  I hadn’t planned to do any quilting on the applique, but it looked sort of bland, so I tried just a little bit, and what a difference it made!

Cosmos

January 29, 2011

I’ve been finishing up some ufo’s lately, and came across this block which was started in a class with Debra Danko a couple of years ago. I went into my basket of 2 1/2″ scraps for the border. Of course I had to cut more! I really like the way it turned out. I did a little thread painting in the flowers, and machine appliqued them with a double blanket stitch.
